This Friday night, the Vancouver John Volken Academy hosted an annual Pasta Party to get Team Volken members pumped up for the 1/2 marathon. Guests arrived and the students did a meet and greet with families and supporters to kick off an action packed weekend of fun in sobriety. There were booths set up to draw signs to cheer on the runners and an Instagram photo-op. A brother, Larry, hosted the event which was decorated in bright blue and green and another brother, Phil, shared his story of addiction and recovery. The party was a success but ended early to ensure rest before the busy 10k and 1/2 marathon weekend. These types of events are so great at amping up our students and keeping each other motivated. Thanks to the donations of this weekend, Team Volken raised over $100,000 towards saving and changing lives.
